I am one of those people who considers ice cream on my list of things that make me happy. When there are new flavors in the market, I can't help myself but give it a try to see if it beats my favorite ice cream flavor which is cookies n' cream.

May is Almost Over

May, my favorite month of the year is almost over. Why is it my fave month? Because my birthday falls on this month. Even though I do not really celebrate my birthday with a special party, that day is important to me because it makes me reflect where I am in my life right now. This year, I felt that there are more things that I need to accomplish. This includes going back to school and getting a Certificate in Education. From what I have gathered, as long as you have a Bachelor's degree that you can get a CEd. I am planning to do that next school year. It may be far from now but it's much better if I prepare earlier.

The Perfect Personalized Gift

Pexagontech
Christmas is not the only season for gift giving. Around this time of the year, it's also time to search for the perfect gift to surprise your dad, or your friend on his or her graduation day.

When I receive a gift, I hope the giver avoid the generic cliche stuff such as pens, photo albums, towels and photo frames. Not that I do not appreciate them but I had received more than enough of my share. I do not think anyone would give something they do not want to receive.

I think Personalized flash drives would make a great gift for anyone, including your dad. The personalized Flash Drives from Pexagon are available in 14 exciting colors and 6 capacities ranging from 512MB to 16GB. You can request for a free Custom laser Engraving on BOTH sides of the drive. Plus you can also pick a "Theme" on the other side, such as; "Happy Father's Day", "Congratulations" and "#1 Teacher".

Even if my dad is easy to please, I still find it hard to choose what to give him. But I think he would really appreciate this one.

Who's the First Person You Call When...

Who's the first person I call when I feel so down? This question just crossed my mind. I do not have many friends. Actually, I can only count the number of friends I have with the fingers on my one hand. But my friendship with them had been proven and tested.

So, who's the first person you turn to when things go bad?

or do you just keep it to yourself?

Hometown Hiding

According to Forbes.com, among the best places to go when you are hiding includes Argentina, Australia, Bahamas and Seychelles. However, if the only option I had is within the U.S., then I would consider going to Hawaii to go in hiding to protect my life and to lessen the pressure that I feel. Aside from that, I can also enjoy basking under the Hawaiian sun.

But I think that's far from happening right now. I just want to daydream that I can be a part of the USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight. The series which will premier on June 1st revolves around Mary Shannon, a sexy and formidable U.S. Marshal whose job is to ensure the safety of people in the Federal Witness Relocation Program.

Positive Side Turns Three-Month Old

My blog turns three months old today. I have been juggling my blogging time between my two blogs and even if I try to put equal time between the two, there's really what you call your pet blog. However, the current metrics of this blog does not disappoint me. During the most recent Google Update last May 5, my Page Rank increased from 0 to 3. As of today, the Alexa Ranking of my blog is 155, 811.

A Tough Chick to Watch Out For

USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight will premier this coming June 1st. The crime drama stars Mary McCormack as Mary Shannon. She would play a U.S. Marshal who is attached to the highly secretive Federal Witness Protection Program (WITSEC). I looked into the site of the new upcoming show and I bet Mary Shannon would be the next tough chick on t.v. to watch out for.

Among the characters in the show, the one I could relate to is the smart and tough Mary. In the said series, she has a mom and a younger sister who are dependent on her. Although, I do not see my mom as dependent on me, my younger sister is the complete opposite of me and she needs to be guided.

She cannot tell her close family and friends about her real job so let's see how Mary would be able to handle living a double life.

Wordpress Dilemma (Need Help)

It was just yesterday that I was able to update to the latest version of WordPress on my other site- http://www.elaine.renable.org. However, I am now having a problem and I do not have any idea how to solve it. In the first place, I do not even know what went wrong.

My home page does not update!

For instance, I would have a new post, the new post will not appear on the homepage. But if I click on the archives and other page, like the May 2008 posts, it does show. It just do not display on the homepage itself.

I tried to change my theme just now. When you visit the homepage, it will not display the new theme but when you try on clicking the other pages, the new theme would show.

What am I to do now?

Arrrrgggh!

Any help would be very much appreciated :)

Hope to find a solution soon...

Random Personality Tests

There are cool personality tests on Blogthings. They are just short tests. They are not really that accurate because only few questions are being asked. Just for fun, here are the tests that I answered:

Who Are Your Celebrity Sisters?

Your Celebrity Sisters Are Mary-Kate and Ashley

Funky, eccentric, and offbeat

You're not a good girl or a bad girl, just a weird girl

Are You Destined To Be Overweight?

You Are Destined to Be Thin

Even if you aren't thin right now, you have great habits that will ensure you're thin for most of your life.

You have a great relationship with food and eating. Don't change a thing.

Flex Your Lenses

Does your pants have a story to tell? You can make a video of it and submit it to the Dockers TV Commercial Contest. Entries such as this one have been submitted to the Dockers contest. If you think you are far more creative than this, why not grab the chance to have your commercial be air during the during the June 13, 2008 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Who knows, the story of your pair of jeans can make you famous.

240x180

For me personally, I love wearing Dockers because aside from being trendy, it is very comfortable. I can do my activities with ease with the pair of comfy pants because I can move freely. If my favorite pair of pants would be able to confess, it would tell you that it needs more rest than what I give it because I use it a lot. I think I should get another pair of the same kind soon.

I encourage you to grab your digital camera now and make an entry for the fun and exciting Dockers contest. It's also a nice idea to ask your friends to join and see whose pants have got the luckier charm. Get your creative juices going!

Friendster , Facebook or MySpace or Blogging?

When I was younger, I used to be hooked into these social networks but then I realized later on that it I can do something more productive with my time.

When I got to join in MySpace, I got a lot of spam and I do not know which profile is real anymore.

Facebook is fun but then after a while, I no longer use because only few of my friends are registered on the site.

On the other hand, Friendster had been my addiction before due to the fact that it is the most popular social network here in the Philippines and most people my age (now even those young teens and old ones) have a Friendster account. I had been a member since 2003.

Later on, I found out about blogging with the help of my mentor Tim. Aside from earning money, it's a more personal way of knowing other blogger friends online since what they write are more personal stuff. It is a "Personal Blog" after all. When I started blogging, my aim was only to find an outlet and spend my time learning the art of blogging. I know I would stick to blogging because of the rewards that goes with it. More than the monetary value, it's the friendship I get from blogger friends that really warms my heart.

Thank you!

If These Pants Could Talk!

240x180

I am the type of girl who would always wear jeans or capri pants. I rarely wear a skirt because wearing a skirt when you have to commute in a busy city is not that easy.

I usually wake up at around 4 am because my work starts at 5:30 am. If my pants could talk around that time, it would tell me it's still sleepy but then he won't have no choice but to go to wok with me. When I see that I am ready to go, my pants had to walk two block with me to get to the bus stop. I know it is still yawning at that time but I had to drag it to work and start doing my job. When 3:00 pm strikes, my pants seems glad to go home and take its much needed rest.

With my kind of work, I really prefer comfortable pants like Dockers'. Their line of clothings are trendy, comfy and made of good quality.

Does your pants have a story to tell? You can submit a video of your pants' story and submit it to Dockers TV Commercial Contest.

The Grand Prize winning Submission of the Dockers contest will have a chance to be aired as a commercial to during the June 13, 2008 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

If your pants could talk, I bet it will be so happy and excited!

Can't Decide Which College To Go To?

Image001

When I was about to enter college, there were a lot of factors to consider on which school should I go to and what course shall I take. Is the course that I wanted avaible in the school where I would like to attend? Is my family's budget enough for my school needs? I did some researching on the schools where I would like to attend. At that time, University of the Philippines -Diliman was a good choice but still I was confused on what degree is suited for me. Some students who are going to college usually face this dilemma.

For those who wants to find out which college is right for you, you can try the free service of myUserach. You would be answering a myUsearch Smart Questionnaire which would help narrow down matches based on objective criteria. This would help you in your decision -making on which school matches your interests and personality.

Update! Update!

I haven't made any post for a while because I took a vacation in the province. Although I check the blogosphere once in a while and drop EC's when I have time, I spent less time in front of the computer. I would like to express my appreciation to those who greeted me on my birthday and to those blogger friends who consistently visit my blogs (even if I was not around). So from now on, I would go back to my regular blogging activities. Aside from EC dropping and bloghopping, of course there's opps-taking.

SocialSpark Sparkles!

I think everyone who constantly visits my blog should have known by now that I have signed up in SocialSpark and I have been actively doing sponsored post. It is transparent that they are sponsored posts because of the badge being shown at the end of each posts. This is what makes SS different from other sites.

SS is proud of the code of ethics that they implement on their community.

-100% Audit-able In-Post Disclosure
-100% Transparency
-100% Real Opinions
-100% Search Engine Friendly

Bloggers had been experiencing problem before about their Page Ranks due to not following the NoFollow rule which other paid for blogging platform requires. But with SS, the NoFollow attribute is being encouraged.

So how's my experience so far? With SS, it seems like it is similar to Friendster, Facebook and Myspace because you can invite friends, bloggers and advertisers alike.

I can say that it's really awesome being part of the SS community. For me, it is more than a paid-for-blogging entity. It is a way of making friends with fellow bloggers because you get to know more the person behind the blogs that they write. You can keep in touch with them through PM's and there's a thing wherein you can give a "prop" to a member's profile or blogs. When I give a prop, it is my way of showing appreciation and approval.

Of course, earning money in SS is fun because of the decent opps available. What I find frustrating in other sites is that, most of the offers are casino-related. This is something I cannot relate to. However, the advertisers present in the SS community are really cool. Writing about them is a breeze.

I Loved You Enough

Since it's Mom's Day, I would like to post an inspirational article about parenthood. This was written by Erma Bombeck. Now that I am a parent myself, I appreciate my parents more for the things they have done for me.

The most important thing I learned from my mom is being patient. She's one of the most patient person I know. From my dad, I saw discipline and humility. I would always be thankful for all the things that they impart to me while growing up.

When I was younger, I was not that expressive when it comes to how much I love them. But now, in my own little ways, I let them know how grateful I am for their presence in my life. I am lucky that growing up, I never experienced the drama of a chaotic family life. They were happy of the things I am able to accomplish and they never failed to acknowledge it when I do something worth-praising.

I Loved You Enough

Some day when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will tell them:

I loved you enough to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home.

I loved you enough to insist that you save your money and buy a bike for yourself even though we could afford to buy one for you.

I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep.

I loved you enough to make you take a Milky Way back to the drugstore (with a bite out of it) and tell the clerk, "I stole this yesterday and want to pay for it."

I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job that would have taken 15 minutes.

I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect.

I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.

But most of all, I loved you enough to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it. Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too.

Go Green - With Silk

As much as I wanted to put flowering plants to decorate our home, my baby is allergic to pollen grains. He would really have a hard time once he has those allergy attacks. Even if I wanted to, we choose not to put flowering plants around the house.

However, I am now considering putting flowering plants at our home. This is after I learned about silk plants. The fake plants are made of quality materials which looks very real. I am thinking of giving my mom faux plants as a gift this Mother's day. Mom has to attend to a lot of things at home. But with these faux plants, she need not worry about watering them, maintaining them and making sure that our cats or dogs will be stay away from them.

There's a corner in our home which I think trees would really look great but then again these will attract lots of insects. Of course, I would not want insects around our home especially that my baby is so sensitive. That's why this fake trees would be a great idea. Aside giving our home a new look, it will be effortless on our part to maintain it. We are going green, with the silk plants!

Working on Weekends

It's Friday but I cannot say "TGIF!" because starting tomorrow I have to work on weekends. I stayed home Thursday and Friday.

So how is it working on weekends here in Manila? A downside to it is not being able to hang out with most of my friends who work on regular weekdays. But the good thing about it is that, there's less traffic congestion in the city on weekends.

Looking back for the past two days, I was able to use my time productively online, opps-taking here and there, EC dropping, leaving comments on other's blog etc.

It's always nice to meet blogger friends online. To Tony of NaijaEcash, thanks a lot for the nice comment on my other blog! Cheers!

Cool Advertisers on Social Spark

I have tried other paid-for-blogging platforms and it's really disappointing when all they let you do are the casino ads or drug ads. Due to lack of opportunities that I could relate to, I would rather pass the chance to do them. Besides, I do not think my blog readers would be very much interested reading that one and it would be rather obvious that I am just doing it just for the money.

I am glad I found SocialSpark.com of the recent sponsors that I wrote for include Dockers, Chevrolet, Frontier(s) movie, and of course the ever cool Alisa Apss Pop Star Challenge.

Since I am planning to work out soon, next time, I hope to find more advertisers that has something to do with sports apparel like Nike, New Balance, Puma and Adidas. When it comes to sports wear and shoes, the brand that I buy the most is Nike.

I hope that there would be more well-known brand that could use Social Spark as a means of marketing their products. How about the likes of Coca-cola and Pepsi join the group of advertisers in Social Spark?

Another set of advertisers that I would like to see in Social Spark are those products that ladies can relate to such as body baths, body lotions (say Victoria's Secret or Marks & Spencer), perfumes and scents (Kenzo, Coolwater, Elizabeth Arden, Clinique), bags (Nine West, Coach, Burberry), clothes (Abercrombie & Fitch, Juicy Couture, Guess, Esprit).

Bloggers, like me, are waiting for more opportunities!

Kid's Q Tag

This was a tag by Avee on my other blog. I am sorry if I posted it late. Hmmm..So little time, so much to do.

Copy here:

Answer the Kid’s Question by Gregory Stock, PH.D. Remember: Don’t respond as you think others want you to. Respond the way you actually feel!

Kid’s Question
If you were the ruler of the world and you could have anything you wanted as well as have people do anything you wanted, do you think you would get greedy and mean or would you be a good and fair ruler?

Answer : I would choose to be a leader, and not a boss. There's a difference between the two. I would lead people by example and not just impost to them what is right (even though I am not doing it). I would choose to be fair to everyone. I will not be greedy because that's not just who I am and besides that greediness might lead to my downfall.

Internet Addiction Test

Seems like my two-day off is spent on my online activities. At least my mom won't have to remind me that I go out a lot anymore.

I took this Internet Addiction Test (designed by Dr. Kimberly Young) to see if I am indeed addicted to being online all the time. It is a 20-item questionnaire that measures mild, moderate, and severe levels of Internet Addiction.

I scored 64 points. Here's the interpretation of the results:

Here's a general scale to help measure your score:

20 - 49 points: You are an average on-line user. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage.

50 -79 points: You are experiencing occasional or frequent problems because of the Internet. You should consider their full impact on your life.

80 - 100 points: Your Internet usage is causing significant problems in your life. You should evaluate the impact of the Internet on your life and address the problems directly caused by your Internet usage.

I belong in the second bracket. However, a significant factor that I got that result is because I am living alone. But I will still try to cut down my internet usage once in a while. Besides, all I do online is blog. (Yeah, I am addicted to blogging lol).

SocialSpark is Live!

I have joined SocialSpark last April 21 and overall, I could say that it had been a good experiencing meeting fellow bloggers and advertising, reserving for opportunities, posting them on my blogs and of course, earning from it. What makes SocialSpark unique is the ability to see the profile of the blogger's and advertiser's and even being able to interact with them by adding them as a friend, leaving comments on their profile and for giving them a prop. A prop is a sign of approval that you like their profile or their blogs.

Another good point of this community is that, as a member, you get to see the face behind those blogs that you are reading. It actually reminds me of MySpace (minus the spam) and Friendster with a twist of being able to earn from it.

It has always been a problem for those who do paid blogging that an advertiser does not like a NoFollow on their links. However, with SS, it's okay if the links have NoFollow on it.

I have registered my two blogs on the site. With the ITK installed in my blogs, I get to see my site's metrics like the Alexa ranking, Real Rank, Daily Average Visitors and Daily Average Views.

Aside from making money, the best thing is of course, making friends. If you want to add me on your list of friends, check out my profile here.

Taurus Celebrities

I like reading about Astrology. Not that I believe everything being claimed in the name of Astrology, but rather, I find it amusing to read about what Astrology has to say about a person's characteristics.

I often read that Taurus is the most stuboorn of all signs. My mom always say I am stubborn. I don't know if my being stubborn is the effect of me being a Taurus or it's the other way around -since I believe that a Taurus is stubborn, I tend to act it out. (Did that confuse you?)

Here are some general characteristics of those born under the sign of the Bull:

Positive Traits

• Patient and reliable
• Warmhearted and loving
• Persistent and determined
• Placid and security loving

Negative Traits

• Jealous and possessive
• Resentful and inflexible
• Self-indulgent and greedy

Share and Save!

When I used to live in a dormitory, my dorm mates and I choose to borrow stuff from each other rather than buy one for ourselves especially on things like books, DVD's, and other school materials which can be shared. Instead of purchasing the books, I am glad that some dorm mates would lend it to me since they had already used it in a previous semester and I would only borrow it for one semester. I also share things with them that I do not use for the time being.

If you want a simple, safe, secure, and convenient means of sharing things with the people who can benefit from what you have and in return you can benefit from what they have, visit www.neighborrow.com. Who knows, aside from the things being borrowed, you can also meet new people and gain friends.

Time to Hit the Gym!

I had been promising myself for the longest time now that I will be hitting the gym to attain the figure that I want. Actually, I’m very skinny that people find it weird when I say, I want to hit the gym. But the gym is not only for those who want to lose weight but for those who want to gain weight as well. I really want to have a toned and firm body. I will be enrolling for a membership this May 14 or 15. Luckily, Fitness First is offering a discount on the monthly membership fee to the employees of the company I work for. Since they have a booth at our company site, I am going to grab the chance of applying for a membership. The good thing about Fitness First is that, you can also work out in their other branches. I’m excited! Hopefully, I will get the results I wanted.

I am a couch potato no more!

What Would Your Pants Tell You?

When shopping for pair of pants, Aside from fit, I always consider comfort and style. If given a chance to shop for all the pair of pants that I want, I would definitely go for Dockers because of their basic look and style.

However, on my typical day, my favorite wear is a comfortable pair of jeans. If not, I would be wearing capri pants because it also make me move a lot with ease. My pants typical day would be getting up early, that would be around 4:00 am. Then my pants would rush to work with me, taking buses or sometimes the train depending on the traffic jam congestion on the road. My pants is always on the go. I reach work before 5:30 am and I would be on my seat doing my responsibilities at work. My shift ends at around 3:00 pm. Most of the time, I go with my coworkers to the nearest mall across our building to unwind a little and grab some snacks before we head home. My pants love it at the mall because it feels cool. However, when I go home, my pants have to bear with the dusk and the heat. If it can talk, I bet it will be complaining all the time.

A Horror Movie in May

Frontier(s) Synopsis: In the midst of politcal riots in Paris, a group of robbers run for the border and end up staying in a backwoods inn run by cannibalistic neo-Nazis.

I like watching horror movies but I cannot watch them alone, I need to be my someone or with bunch of people around me. I must admit that I easily get scared. When I used to live with my siblings, we like watching horror movies but we we would end up sitting very close to each other when those scary scenes start. Yes, we like to scare ourselves. After watching the trailer of Frontier(s), I think my siblings would definitely like to see this movie with me. Despite of being unrated and uncut, it will be coming to theaters in May 9. That's few days away from now. I would like to see this movie because of the controversy that surrounds it.

Unknown

Are you interested to see the movie as well? See the select theater listings and set a schedule with your friends to watch it! I don't know if it will be shown here in the Philippines yet that's why I am aiming to have a copy of the uncut DVD which will be released on May 13. I would definitely want to have a copy of this French controversial shocker!

Are You a People Pleaser?

Do you always find yourself saying "yes" to others when it fact this does not really reflect what you feel. I admit before, it is very hard for me to say "no" but then I realized later on that it's okay to examine what I want first before I commit myself to somethings that would please other people.

If you see yourself in the pattern of always agreeing to what others need, it's time to change this pattern. Do something for yourself. Keep in mind that your worth is not examined by how much you do for others.

Sometimes when we say no, we tend to think of excuses. But the real reason is, we just don't really want to do it. Putting our needs and want first before others is not selfish. We should always learn to set our limits.

My aunt sells cakes, pastries and wine on special occasions. I used to hang out at her house a lot and sometimes help with some stuff (or at least have a free taste of those goodies!). She would ask me if I know a way on how she can make nice labels for her products. I think these custom labels from Label World would be the solution for her branding needs especially the Wine Label for Valentines and Christmas.

Label World produces labels for a variety of industries like food and beverage, health and beauty, medical, industrial, promotional, commercial, security and certifications.

I bet my aunt's goodies would sell more with these neat custom labels!
